Many Bloggers want to have some music on their blogs especially Music based blogs and blogs kept by musicians and bands. One of the easiest yet most effective ways to add some songs to your blog is using the Yahoo Music Player. Of course it does not have to be music you can add other types Mp3 files like short story’s, poetry etc.. With the Yahoo Music player you can add a play list to your sidebar or elsewhere on your blog but also add a link to play an individual song. So in a post when you mention a song you can make that song play just by clicking the title. A small play icon will be beside the title to let readers know they can listen to it. The player itself is hidden until someone wants a song then it slides out and plays with controls to pause, toggle, volume etc.. This is a great option to play music on your blog.
Demo – You can see a demo of the player here, just click play on a link under ‘Our Music’ in the sidebar : Mp3 Player Demo
What can be added to the player
You can add any Mp3 link to the player, if your a band the Mp3 links you have from your Myspace player will work. For others just grab a Mp3 link for your favorite songs and your ready to go.Remember you have to be careful when it comes to copyright.
How to add the player to your blog
This is the cool part because just one piece of code is required for the actual player !
Step 1. In your dashboard Click ‘Design’ > ‘Edit Html’
Step 2. Find the following piece of code in your blogs Html : (Click Ctrl and F for a search bar to help find the code – More Info)
</head>
Step 3. Copy The Code Below And Paste It Directly Before / Above </head>
<a href='http://www.spiceupyourblog.com'><img alt='Best Blogger Tips' src='http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rKG-ziTSNUQ/TQ5eV0U0EiI/AAAAAAAACik/xo2eFaDbfrE/s1600/best+blogger+tips.png'/></a><script type="text/javascript" src="http://mediaplayer.yahoo.com/js"></script>
Step 4. Save Your Template.
That’s the player installed now to add the music. To add a Mp3 file simply create a link to the location.
This is how the 3 songs from the demo look :
<a href="http://mediaplayer.yahoo.com/example1.mp3">First link</a>
<a href="http://mediaplayer.yahoo.com/example2.mp3">Second link</a>
<a href="http://mediaplayer.yahoo.com/example3.mp3">Third link</a>
So anytime you create a link that has a Mp3 it will appear with the play icon :
<a href="LINK-TO-MP3-HERE">TITLE-HERE</a>
A great solution and a great way to add music directly into your blogs posts not just in a play list. You can get some of the advanced settings on the Yahoo Music Player Page or If you have any questions just ask.
